The organization we study in play the most important role in shaping our career. Especially, in India where the name of the college is first considered than the knowledge you have. If you are a graduate from IIT or SRCC there are chances you would land a high paying job. With same capabilities and knowledge, it would be hard for you to have a job if you are from tier two or three college. Everyone can not score big and go for the top notch college. So the question is how to choose a college in all the options available.
Course
Very often if we don’t get the college of our liking we tend to change the course. It’s good to consider all your options, but don’t get with the flow. Don’t finalize a college just because of the sake of doing. You may not have qualified for the institute you are looking for, but there are plenty of other options available for you to grab.
Pen down all the courses that come to your mind, talk to experts and mentors who have made it big working in different fields. Use the discussion forum sites like Quora and PagalGuy. You tend to meet like people you who are confused and together it’s easy for you to take a better decision. Don’t finalize the course just because you might end up getting a better college in that particular course. Be open to suggestions. Any institute you join gives an ample number of opportunities to few students to maintain the name of the institution in the market. So if you like the course, you can excel it.
Prioritize
Once you have finalized the course that you will be taking on, it’s time to get done with the colleges. Well, finding the best college for you is not a onetime process. It’s more of an evolving process, where you tend to change the options you have again and again. One thing you need to make sure is, don’t go with the flow. Don’t take a college just because any of your cousins has done it from there. If you belong to an Indian family, you might get such kind of offers, do not fall into this trap.
Take a diary list down all the colleges’ options available to you. On the other page, write down all the interests you have and things you want to do in your college life and things you want to do after college life. Are there any extracurricular activities that you want to pursue, some sports you want to play? Ask yourselves such questions and if the answers are yes. You will get to know the way to prioritize.
Finalize
Once you have prioritized the course and the college, it’s time to finalize the college. Well, by now you have an idea of what are the things you like and what kind of college you are looking to. Now use the discussion forums and mentors that you have in order to go deep into research. Also, consider the fee structure that the college if offering. Consult your parents with the fee structure.
Once you have done all the above steps you will be able to finalize the college.
