So, it's that time of the year again when some of us have to bid adieu to our colleges, friends, campus. 1-A gorgeous sari on one hand might be the most desired dress for the day but when it comes to real wearing, a lot a questions preoccupy us . If you want to rock that Desi girl style at your Farewell party, go for a light weight sari style that will make you stand out from the rest.Go for some bright colors like turquoise, magenta that suit all types of complexion. Striking contrasting colors could be another option. Go for a plain sari with a little heavy border and a stylish blouse. A stylish blouse adds grace to the look even if Sari is not that great. DU's North campus witnessed one of the darkest day

Delhi University today witnessed one of the darkest day as two of the most prominent college unions of country and university clashed.

Ramjas college is the epicentre of the protest as the whole issue arose when Ramjas college invited Jawahar Lal Nehru College student Umar Khalid. Umar Khalid, contemproary of Kanhaiya Kumar, was in news for his protests at JNU and also faced the hearing from Supreme Court and was released on bail.

This led to protest by ABVP in front of Ramjas college and Umar Khalid schedule was cancelled by the college administration. However, the protest was not stopped here. The members of All India Students Union (AISA) assembled today in front of Ramjas college and the situation got serious. AISA and ABVP both were present in the campus and the full day resulted in the chaos. Police was on toes and also the Quick response team were present in the campus. This also effected the nearby areas as the shops near Patel Chest were closed. The transportation system was a break down, barricades were put up near by police station where the students spoke about the dissent and right to speak.

Kawalpreet from AISA stated, "In DU while Parishad is looking out for people who participated in the march today, m any of our activists around north campus are being harassed. While the Delhi police is silently giving all the support to Parishad and the buses in which they have detained us are being rotated everywhere in Delhi."

Shehla Rasheed tweeted, "Prof. Prasanta Chakravarty, English Dept. DU attacked by #ABVP, admitted to Hindu Rao hospital. #Ramjas@kanhaiyajnusu @kavita_krishnan"


These are the guidelines given to students of Delhi University.

1. College students arrested while trying to file an FIR against ABVP violence.

2. Midnight raids being planned on a lot of people identified. People in PGs should hopefully be safe, especially females. But the males, if you can evacuate the campus, do so right now. DON'T stay on campus if you were involved in protests yesterday and today.*

3. People detained are currently being taken around Delhi in police buses.

The situation itself represents the worse situation currently of the politics interference in colleges of Delhi University.

These two girls from DU got permission for night, reason is damn funny

Girls in Indian societies are often treated as the one who needs to come early at night. Girls are not given permission and liberty to roam and just move around, have fun late at night. The same is followed by the PGs and hostels of Delhi University.

Delhi University hostels and PGs for girls, have wardens and guards, who judge you for the time at which you enter the PGs. Not only, they give you looks but also they leave no chance to talk behind your back with your peers, and in some cases your parents.

For a girl living in Delhi University hostel or PG, it is hard harder for one staying in North Campus and around, it is impossible with regulations over them.

However, Preeti and Aditi two college students of Delhi university have shown a courage by asking for a Night out permission in written stating that they simply want to de-stress themselves as the experience of their dissertation presentation didn't go well for them quoting their warden that they needed a break.

 The post was posted by Pinjra Tod and later in an interview to Indian Express, it was confirmed by the admin of Pinjra Tod that the application was accepted and the permission was granted to both the students for a night out.

Ekonomiska'17 is back and you should not be missing this

Ekonomiska, the annual Economics Fest of Maitreyi College is now in its 5th edition. It is one of the most dynamic departmental fests of the college, attracting students from different colleges and different departments.

For every group of friends who are in search of places where they can sit and chit chat about every stupid thing on earth, we present a list of places to hang out and have fun time without spending a penny

1. University Plaza: This is a perfect place for students to talk and have a good time with friends. University plaza is spacious, full of greenery with birds chirping and squirrels playing. It is built near Shri Ram College of Commerce. it also has some cheap eating joints around it serving delicious dishes to satisfy your hunger. with a soft breeze and mild sunshine, this place is apt for this winter season.

2. VC Lawns: Located near Miranda House hostel, the garden is peacefully beautiful. You can walk through the lawns, lay down in the grass, do fun activities, play badminton etc.. People come here to exercise in the evening and do some yoga. It is a perfect place to chill out with friends away from noise and pollution.

3. The area near Vishwavidyalaya Metro Station: This is the most happening place in the north campus with plenty of cheap eating joints. There is immense space to sit, gossip and relish the mouth watering food. you can time pass there with your buddies for as long as you wish to without having to pay anything.

4. Sparks Mall: This mall is situated in the heart of Kamla Nagar market and has a really awesome food court on the second floor which seems to be the most ideal chilling spot. You can also ask from scrabble from the reception to play with your group and what more everything comes for free. There are some cool food joints as well like Starbucks, mad over donuts etc.

Miranda House recieved notice from DCW over college ban

Miranda House, all girls college of Delhi University, has banned its students from taking selfies and combing their hairs inside the college. This is one of a hilarious ban any college of Delhi University has ever faced.

Delhi University has known for the openness and the freedom its students has over the issues and in the college. This is one of the major reasons why students chose Delhi University over any other college.

Interestingly, Miranda House administration gave a notice to 1200 distance learning students, who attends college on weekends and other public holidays, stating that who so ever is found wasting time in clicking pictures and selfies would be suspended for a day by the administration.

The KYS (Krantikari Yuva Sangathan) has taken this matter seriously and is opposing the issue ever since. They were approached by the girls of School of Open Learning and they registered a complaint with The Delhi Commission for Women, post which a notice has been issued by the college.

"Most of the girls spend time taking selfies and combing their hair in the class, by which the teachers are not able to teach properly in the class. Also, students stand in corridors doing nothing but taking time for themselves and combing hair." said philosophy hons second-year student.

The Delhi Commission for Women has issued a notice terming the act of college as 'misogynistic'. The notice comes after several girls from the college approached the commission over the selfie ban. "We have asked for a point-wise reply from the college on students' complaint within several days," a DCW senior official said.

How to overcome I feel nobody syndrome

When you come to the country's most prestigious university and best university for many courses well you have your own perks. There is a downside to this road too. You are always surrounded by people who are always pushing you forward, peer pressure tends to get so high that the students start to collapse. It is completely normal, as the city has to offer a lot and it takes a time to adopt changes and move ahead with life. 

The best part of this situation and lonesome fear is that you are not alone. Many more students are feeling the same thing in one way or the another. So you do not need to feel bad, what you need to do is to get the feel away and move forward in the college life, as the college is only for three years. And when will this time pass by, it would be very hard to stop. 

Here is the list of few kinds of stuff that you can do that would not only put away the lonesome fear but will also help you develop on the personal level.

1. Hangout with your classmates: Your classmates are the only one who would be there with you. You can befriend seniors or juniors or from other departments, but you might feel the same when they would not be around. Most of the time you spend in the college is in the classroom. Make sure that you have a couple of friends in your class. If not friends, do hangout with them, it is not important to have a bro relationship with everyone. Sometimes all you need to make sure is you have acquaintances so that whenever you need help in future, they would.

2. Join a Society: This is the first and foremost thing you should do when you join a college. Joining a society will not only help you in keeping you engaged in the college, you will make some good contacts and you will be able to learn a lot too. There is a lot of learning available in the college and college societies can give you the platform to express yourselves and live your interests. Also, you can be a part of a cool college fests and events organised by the societies.

3. Associate activities outside College: When you come to DU, you realise that the pressure of college is not so much and most part of your day, you are free. What you can do is join the dance class you always wanted to join or the guitar academy you always have been looking for. This kind of activities can also help you in developing a group outside the college and you might also add up to your skillsets. You can also look to join some campus ambassador programs or internships.

Few Colleges of Delhi University planning to seek autonomous status

Top colleges of Delhi University are planning on to attain autonomous university status. This means the college would function as a deemed university and there would be no rules and regulations governed by the University of Delhi. The colleges that include in this are Shri Ram College of Commerce, The Hindu College, Ramjas College, St. Stephens College and the colleges under the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee.

The above-mentioned college expressed their desire to be declared as the deemed university in the recent governing body meeting held at Hindu College. If the process is achieved, these colleges will have the supreme right over the course structure, a number of admissions, fee structure and other important factors. They will be governing themselves as an independent college.

These colleges also will have to abide by the certain laws that are laid down by the union Human Resource Development ministry.

The colleges need to have 'A' accreditation for continuous of three years to be considered for the autonomous status by the ministry. It was first started by St. Stephens and partly St. Stephens do have some autonomous rights. They carry out their own entrance tests, have their own fee structure and have their separate entrance procedures.

This move, as speculated, would not be welcomed by the students union of any of the colleges as it gives supreme power to the college administration to make decisions on their own. Right now, the power is more decentralized and students, college professors, administration and University each are the pillars of this decentralized system.

 Although, the journey of attaining the status seems to be the long way down the road, but if the process gets started, it would be difficult for Delhi University to hold the status quo it achieved over the years.

North Campus is known for the number of food joints it has. But the matter of fact is you can’t go and spend few hundreds every time you feel like eating out. And if you are a foodie like me, you can completely understand what I am talking about.

So to ease the budget size of your food budget, here is a list of street food that are delicious and the amount of money you spend on them will make them taste even better.

1.Kachori

Kachori can be considered as the national food of Delhi. With almost every metro station hosts couple of people trying to sell kachori on a cycle. Vishwavidyalya holds the courtesy of the best kachori available in the capital city. As you get out of gate number 4 from metro station, you witness an old man along with her wife selling kachoris. You may choose between a couple of variants, 10 bucks a plate and 15 bucks a plate.

2.Momos

Delhi crowd loves momos, and after kachori, it is the second most found food spots in the capital city. The University metro has three stalls of Momos and all three have the common owner, so the taste of each is same. Three variants of the delicious food are available at the spot which includes, veg, non-veg and paneer. You can have your stomach fill in a budget of forty bucks.

3.Chowmein

As you enter Kamla Nagar market, just opposite to Hansraj Hostel, stands an old man with a thela with big Kadai of chow mien. From the outset, you would not want to have it, but once you taste it, it would not be easy for you to stop. The delicious chow mien is topped with the soybean balls with a bit spicy sauce and an exact amount of vinegar and soya sauce. It is one of the most deliciously tasting Chinese I have ever come across. It would not even hurt your pocket as the full plate just cost you twenty bucks.

4.Gol Gappas

You are not a certified foodie until you have tasted all the Gol gappas in your vicinity. In the midst of the best food joints, just opposite to Dominos Pizza is a mid-twenties man standing with the mouth watering gol gappas. Well, it would cost you twenty bucks for six pieces and it would not be easy for you to stop after a single plate. You can also ask for the sukha papdi at the end that has all the best masalas and would add up to the taste in your mouth.

5.Corn

If you are a big corn fan, well this place has that too. As you walk out of the metro, sitting is an old lady with the freshly bought up corns. If you like the fan, you would surely like it. You can get it roasted and add it up with lemon. Brace yourselves under a tree nearby the stall and enjoy one of the best corn you will ever have.

6.Pao Bhaji

In the heart of the Kamla Nagar market, near McDonald's, is a thela of Pao Bhaji. Well if you are a big spicy fan and are looking for some desi food, this surely is one place that can satisfy your food needs. It has a breathtaking aura all around itself as you try to walk near the McDonalds, that would surely make you hungry. You should surely try this once.

Career and Courses to Pursue after B.Com.

As you move ahead in the final semesters of your graduation you need to answer tons of questions. The happiness of completing the first milestone of your life and fear of what to do next often eats up all your minds. One of the best advice anyone can give to a college going student is that one should know where he/she has to go once the graduation gets over. Most common Choices:

1. Chartered Accountancy (CA)
Chartered Accountancy is one of the most professional courses often adopted by the most number of students. CA exams are conducted by Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAI). You need to clear three examinations CPT, IPCC (two groups) and CA Final (two groups). But, if you have done graduation, you are eligible directly to give IPCC exams. You also have to serve a training period of two and a half years which is also named as the articleship period. Though the salary after the completion of course, is quite lucrative, but the course requires a perseverance to complete the course.

2. Masters of Commerce (M.Com.)
After the graduation one of the simplest step moving ahead with the career is pursuing masters of commerce. It is a two-year course that can be pursued from any of the recognised a university.

3. Masters of Business Administration (MBA)
MBA is one of those courses in India which is often tried by the most number of students pursuing graduation. It is often treated as a license to give a kick start to your career. If you are a student of a calibre who can bag top B-Schools, well, MBA is something that can add zeroes to your salary. It is a two-year course and you can pursue a career across multiple domains like Finance, Marketing, Human Resources and much more.

International Options:
1. Associate of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
It is one of the fastest growing international accountancy organisations with over 162,000 students and 428,000 students spread over 173 countries. It is more or less similar to CA of India, though additional knowledge of UK GAAP, IFRS and Law makes it superior to CA. During the completion of course, you need to complete 14 papers, however, you can avail few exemptions also. You can shape your career in the field of accounting, banking and management.

2. Certified Public Accounting (CPA)
It is often considered as the highest standard of accountancy across the globe. A CPA qualification is also considered to as similar CA of India. There are 4 exams that come under CPA qualification and can be completed over a span of one year. Pursuing CPA after ACCA, CA, M.Com., MBA in finance, ICWA can boost up your career.

3. Certified Management Accountant (CMA)
If you see yourself working with MNCs and looking to go global, going international is the best way. It can not only give a kick-start to your career but you also get the good ROIs. CMA is organised by Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) and the content is regularly reviewed by Institute of Certified Management Accountants (ICMA). You need to complete two examinations to become a CMA.
